Amsterdam is the meeting place of old and new - modern glass skyscrapers on the cityÕs edge contrasting with centuries-old inner-city row houses. Amsterdam is also the meeting place of the nations, embracing 170 nationalities and 44 major ethnic groups.
Here amidst the fear, despair, hopelessness and loneliness of the city, YWAM's workers are experiencing what it means to be His witnesses by working among the different types of people found in this trendsetting city.
Since 1973 YWAM - Amsterdam has focused on the urban environment, and in doing so has learned many principles in how to reach the often diverse populations found in the city.
YWAM Amsterdam is an apostolic, multi-cultural, urban mission, called to know God and His ways and to make Him known through multiplying passionate fellowship of disciples of Jesus in our community, in the city of Amsterdam and in the nations of the world, especially among the least evangelized.

As part of YWAM International, we are committed to knowing God and His ways. Through God's enabling, we will participate in the task of fulfilling the Great Commission in Amsterdam and other world-class cities, giving priority to those which are least evangelized.
We are committed to planting indigenous churches, especially among unreached people groups. Our ultimate objective is to foster a people movement within these groups towards Jesus Christ.
We will do this by proclaiming and demonstrating Jesus Christ and His Kingdom through evangelism, caring for the poor and needy, and mobilizing and training dedicated Christians, especially young people, for a lifestyle of evangelism and service in the urban frontiers. |
